DC Avanti is showcased to be India's first Supercar, which is designed by DC Design, a firm headed by Dilip Chhabria. DC Design company also builds custom special order vehicles and this will be their first foray into producing a complete automobile. The mid-engined new Avanti is subtely inspired by the likes of Ferrari's and more modern concepts from Europe in its aerodynamic slopes and aggressive angles, but its performance figures are significantly weaker when compared these pedigrees due to its sapless engine, to say the least, the Avanti has the bark but not the bite. Initially the Avanti will be powered by a forced-induction four-cylinder Ford 2.0 Ecoboost petrol engine juicing out 265bhp linked to a 6-speed manual, a later variant would be a V6 churing out 394 bhp sourced from Honda, it will be mated to a six-speed dual clutch design. Avanti's design is modern and its built around with plenty of aluminum which keeps the weight down to under 1,600 Kg, it would have a tubular frame chassis, a double wishbone suspension with coil cover shocks, 330mm AP Racing brakes up front. Keeping Indian road conditions in mind the under carriage design is entrusted to reputed global specialists which would eventually keep the ride and control asepct of the car manageable. The DC Avanti is expected to be priced around INR 30 Lakhs, approximately $56,000 in US dollars. As per DC Design Website the car is to hit the production floor coming next year. With a planned output of 300 models by 2013-214, DC hopes to ramp up the outflow in four figures later, if all goes well.
